Muhurat trading: Sensex gains 192 points; Nifty ends at 11,627

Benchmark files shut in the green on the Muhurat Trading Day on Sunday with the BSE Sensex increasing 192.14 focuses to close at 39,250.20 and the Nifty50 progressed 43.30 focuses to end at 11,627.20. The Nifty Midcap file went up 0.6 percent and the Smallcap list bounced 1.2 percent. Around three offers picked up for each offer falling on the BSE.

Goodbye Motors, Vedanta, Infosys, M&M and ITC were top gainers while Bharti Infratel and Titan Company were greatest washouts. Muhurat exchanging on stock bourses denoting the start of Samvat 2076 began at 6.15 pm. During muhurat exchanging, the stock trades in India open up for a one-hour promising exchanging session.

The idea of Muhurat exchanging was begun in 1957 on the BSE and in 1992 on the NSE. The muhurat exchanging session denotes the start of the new Hindu year upon the arrival of Diwali.

As per NSE, all exchanges executed muhurat exchanging session on Sunday will bring about settlement commitments. From the last Muhurat exchanging session, which was on November 7, 2018, the Nifty progressed 1,131.85 focuses (10.75 percent) while Sensex increased 4,306.47 focuses (12.31 percent).
